Beachsportfestival Fehmarn

This summer in Germany is one of the best summers we had since a long time. Quite a few windy days and extremely good weather. This was also the case last weekend were I was on the Beachsportfestival on Fehmarn. The whole event was about a big SUP testival, the german slackline championships and a stop of the Superflavour German SUP Challenge. I was there with our inflatable Naish boards and had a good time talking to happy testers, customers and interested people.

As the SUP Challange took place I got some time off from work to participate. Surprisingly I managed to crush my opponents and made a clear win on the course race in the mens fitness class. I was super stoked to win this event and even got a wildcard for the SUP Worldcup in Hamburg. Let’s see what I can do there with some really good paddlers.

The next upcoming event will be Standup4Kids next weekend. Would be cool to see you there supporting this charity event. So if you got some time come around for some action or a chat!

Videoreview: KST Damp 2013

As promised in my post about the first trophy stop in Damp I worked on the video review the last days. As we didn’t had the best wind there is not too much action in the video – let us hope for more during the next event. Anyways for everybody, who was not there it is a nice wrap-up of the event. Now sit back and enjoy.

Kitesurftrophy Damp 2013

Last weekend the first tour stop of the German Kitesurftrophy (KST) took place in Damp at the Baltic Sea. Unluckily the wind was really bad during the event. The only day with enough wind for freestyle was Sunday and even there the kitesize to ride was between 11 and 15 meters. To make it even worse the wind was slightly offshore and gusty.

Anyways I was pretty stoked as this was my first bigger contest and everything was quite new to me. I got to know many nice people and learned a lot about competing in kitesurfing. When it was time for my first heat I was very unlucky as a line of my kite broke right after the start and I was forced to the beach.

Check out the images below and stay tuned for a little event video I am just about to cut.

First trophy stop in Damp

So it has been one week since the first big surf event of the season. Next week the contest season in Germany finally starts with the first stop of the KST (Kitesurf Trophy), which is also the Germany championship. I will be there from Friday to Sunday with the intention to compete in Freestyle and just for fun in the race compartment. As the event is also living from it’s spectators I hope a lot of you guys join os on the water and on the beach. The parties are legendary so make sure you don’t miss it!

Unluckily I didn’t have the chance to get on the water the last 7 weeks because of my blow out knee. Therefore I have no clue how my shape is on the water and how well I am able to perform. Anyways it looks like there will be a big storm hitting our coast on Wednesday and Thursday. And as I got university holidays I have the chance to get two days of training just before the event. Lets see whats possible and maybe the break was good for my body to recover from the intense training before. So save the date and see you in Damp next weekend!

Wintertraining

The season 2012 is ahead and as I got some big plans, like competing in the Kitesurf Trophy and the North German Climbing comps, for this year I have a lot of training ahead. I am pretty happy to have 3 weeks time for Kitesurfing in Egypt this March, but the real strength and power builds up in the winter months. As I am in exam phase I got a lot of time at the moment and I have the opportunity to make up my own schedule. My training schedule is pretty crowded at the mome, having around 10 units a week. The first pillar of my training is the endurance, which I build up in extensive jogging exercises – I try to run around 40km a week with around 10-12km/. As a little motivation I registered for a half marathon (21,5km) in April. My coldest session was in around -15°, where I had icicles in my face – see the picture below.

The second pillar is strength and power. This all happens in the gym. Specific training is my climbing training around 2-3 times a week trying to push it to UIAA 8/7a. Apart from that I goto my Box gym 2-3 times a week doing some intense workouts and lifting some weights – this gives me the ultimate power I need for the summer.

Something for the next days: I will present the Naish SUP Boards in cooperation with “Frosch Sportreisen” on the travel exhibition in Hamburg this weekend. So if you are interested in SUP or just wanna get some infos about traveling drop by.
