Knee update: Recovery

It has been over four weeks till I hurt my knee on that crash while kiting. As the days pass by luckily it gets better and better everyday. I got rid of the crunches and got a nice new orthesis in which I can walk again and do some reha sport. The only good thing about this whole injury is that I can finally give my body some rest he really needed! I was always pushing a little bit too much and forget about recovery. The other good thing is that I am now forced into the gym – boring weightlifting is the only sport I am was able for the last weeks. Anyway it is always good to build up some basic strength and work on the misbalances a little bit.

 

The sun also returned in Germany and I had some great days chilling with good friends in the sun, having some barbecues or just getting in the kayak for a paddle session. Pretty mallow!

 

However I am very keen to hit the water again! The doc says I will be able to kite again in two weeks – just in time for the first stop of the Trophy in Damp! I am very very happy about that fast recovery and really look forward to pushing it again this season!!! Knee injury

Just had my first injury, after being without any serious stuff during all the time I was pushing my limits on the water and rock. Two weeks ago I had another photo-session with Niels Jende in Niendorf. The session was somehow cursed: First I had the wrong kite size and on my first SBend I was torn onto the beach. The second jump was a massive unhooked kite loop. The kite looped clearly under my height and was only half way through when I landed. Unfortunately I landed directly in a wave face… I immediately felt something snapping and of course a lot of pain.

 

So right away into the hospital, xray and first checks. Result: Nothing broken but maybe some ligaments damaged. First impression: Shit! Next day I went to a specialist and got a MRT and the big relief: Just a partially damaged inner ligament. I can probably be back on the water in mid May. This sounded a lot better. Still have to walk around on crunches the next weeks but then I will be back on the water!!!
