Beachsportfestival Fehmarn

This summer in Germany is one of the best summers we had since a long time. Quite a few windy days and extremely good weather. This was also the case last weekend were I was on the Beachsportfestival on Fehmarn. The whole event was about a big SUP testival, the german slackline championships and a stop of the Superflavour German SUP Challenge. I was there with our inflatable Naish boards and had a good time talking to happy testers, customers and interested people.

As the SUP Challange took place I got some time off from work to participate. Surprisingly I managed to crush my opponents and made a clear win on the course race in the mens fitness class. I was super stoked to win this event and even got a wildcard for the SUP Worldcup in Hamburg. Let’s see what I can do there with some really good paddlers.

The next upcoming event will be Standup4Kids next weekend. Would be cool to see you there supporting this charity event. So if you got some time come around for some action or a chat!

Summersessions

Wohoo finally the German summer kicks in. Temperatures up to 30 degree and nice thermical winds. I had alot of time on the water the last weeks! First we were lucky and had sick conditions for the trophy in Warnemuende. My first heat was agaians Marian, who literally stomped me. Anyways I am getting into this whole competition thing!

Right after the KST I quickly finished one of my last exams and headed directly to St. Peter Ording for the PKRA kite worldcup. And again one day full of perfect wind and sunshine! Epic day with good friends. The event itself and the party was also very mellow. Everybody who was there before knows what I mean, everybody else: Go there net time!

Now back in my hometown Luebeck I already enjoyed two awesome shorty session with perfectly stable wind. I also managed to shoot some pics and videos for my summer videos that will come soon! Some of them are appended below the post. Check them out and stay tuned for more!

Trophy in Warnemuende

Finally it is time for the next stop of the Kitesurftropy (KST). The KST is the official German championship for kitesurfing and the participants battle it out in four stops throughout the season. The second stop this year will be in Warnemuende on the upcoming weekend.

The good news is that there is also a big sailing event with life music and some good parties. The bad news is that the wind looks kind of odd. Maybe we get some Wind on Sunday – we will see. I am happy to see all the people again and encourage everybody to come around for a talk and hopefully some action!

RedBull Coast2Coast

RedBull is going nuts again! After the great Rising High wakeboard event in Hamburg the next big project is the so called Coast2Coast race from Niobe on Fehmarn to Denmark and back. Round about 40km of open water action on the rough baltic sea! Around 200 racers will battle it out to win a great trip to Hawaii with my boss Robby Naish.

As I already got some pre infos I was eagerly waiting for the release of this event. It will be so awesome to race with so many kiters on my home spots. As the registration is free and open for everyone you are highly welcome to join us! I hope to see ya all there guys.

Videoreview: KST Damp 2013

As promised in my post about the first trophy stop in Damp I worked on the video review the last days. As we didn’t had the best wind there is not too much action in the video – let us hope for more during the next event. Anyways for everybody, who was not there it is a nice wrap-up of the event. Now sit back and enjoy.

Kitesurftrophy Damp 2013

Last weekend the first tour stop of the German Kitesurftrophy (KST) took place in Damp at the Baltic Sea. Unluckily the wind was really bad during the event. The only day with enough wind for freestyle was Sunday and even there the kitesize to ride was between 11 and 15 meters. To make it even worse the wind was slightly offshore and gusty.

Anyways I was pretty stoked as this was my first bigger contest and everything was quite new to me. I got to know many nice people and learned a lot about competing in kitesurfing. When it was time for my first heat I was very unlucky as a line of my kite broke right after the start and I was forced to the beach.

Check out the images below and stay tuned for a little event video I am just about to cut.

First trophy stop in Damp

So it has been one week since the first big surf event of the season. Next week the contest season in Germany finally starts with the first stop of the KST (Kitesurf Trophy), which is also the Germany championship. I will be there from Friday to Sunday with the intention to compete in Freestyle and just for fun in the race compartment. As the event is also living from it’s spectators I hope a lot of you guys join os on the water and on the beach. The parties are legendary so make sure you don’t miss it!

Unluckily I didn’t have the chance to get on the water the last 7 weeks because of my blow out knee. Therefore I have no clue how my shape is on the water and how well I am able to perform. Anyways it looks like there will be a big storm hitting our coast on Wednesday and Thursday. And as I got university holidays I have the chance to get two days of training just before the event. Lets see whats possible and maybe the break was good for my body to recover from the intense training before. So save the date and see you in Damp next weekend!

Surffestival 2013

Just one more day till the biggest surf and SUP festival starts in Pelzerhaken! This year a lot of stuff changed: Delta radio will be responsible for the music and the aftershow partys, there will be a lot of professional and fun SUP contests during the event and my sponsor Chiemsee created the event shirts this year – a rad design!

You will find me at the Chiemsee tent, where you can register for the beach jump powered by Chiemsee. This will be a 12m high tower from where you can jump on a big air pillow. It doesn’t matter how you hit the pillow it will not hurt. Therefore it is the perfect place for practicing all the stuff you never had the nuts for. The best jumpers get invited to the sundowner jump contests every day!

So make sure to be there! Pelzerhaken is just a one hour drive away from Hamburg and it will be the perfect location for action, fun, meeting the pros and partying this weekend. See you there!

New climbing pictures

In the last posts I promised to update my gallery section with the newest climbing pictures as soon as I got everything together. And here we go: Yesterday I got the pictures of Jörg Schwarze (verticalimage.de) with the friendly permission to share them on my page. We didn’t spend a lot of time to create THE perfect pictures but he took some perfect snapshots! Impressive pictures with a very good composition. But now I stop talking and let the images speak. I appended a few to this post. The others can be found in the gallery section! Enjoy and check out Jörgs page for more pictures.

Urbanapes climbing marathon

As promised I will publish a small review of the climbing marathon competition at the urban apes climbing gym in Lübeck. It basically was a endurance competition, were you had six hours time to climb as many routes as possible. Each route gave 13 points (average height) plus the UIAA grade. Toprope and lead had no influence on the points. Also important is that it was a team competition and both had to climb every route.

I was competing with Lorenz Langfeld as the team “No Rest No Fun” and we managed to climb 89 routes, which means nearly 1300m. Our aim was to crack the 100 routes but that was not possible in just six hours. Anyways we crushed at the competition and made, with over 12 routes more than the second, the first place. As this competition was about fun anyways the biggest pleasure was to see the 30 teams in action on the walls. It was such a nice atmosphere and everybody was really psyched!

Afterwards everybody stayed for a video session, self cooked soup and a couple of beers. This is what I call a nice climbing event for everybody. Well organized and done by the staff of urban apes and because of all participating teams a full success. Let’s hope for more events of this type! You can check the recent pictures from Jörg (vertical image) out or visit the urban apes facebook page for rankings, pictures and a video. I will also post some pictures of the competition soon!
