Never ending summer

The summer in Germany is one of the best I remember. We had so much great weather and most important a lot of wind! This is very untypical for Germany, as wind comes typically with storms, rain and cold temperatures. Another great aspect this year are all the great events. I have been to a watersport event every weekend till the summer began. German kite championship, Surffestivals, SUP contests, Waterline sessions and fun events like dragonboat races. All this and my Bachelorthesis keep me busy as hell, so sorry for not writing the last weeks guys.

Anyways I managed to push myself on SUPing a lot this summer. Made the first place on the SUPerflavour trophy in the fitness class and qualified for the worldcup in Hamburg. There I paddled on the second place in the celebrity team race and managed to get on the 5. place in the fitness class sprint and long distance race.

More news about my upcoming travel project and the final summer wrapup with many pictures and videos will come soon! So stay tuned and get out in the sun guys.

Big travel Project

Finally it is the day and I am happy to announce my upcoming travel project starting mid September. I will be one year around the best kitespots of the world. Kiting every day, training, teaching and enjoying life to it’s fullest after my studies. Luckily I was able to win some great sponsors for this project. Big thanks to Chiemsee, sun and fun, Naish, Prolimit, Rollei actioncam, Pixelheimat, Clif Bar/Lifebrands and RipRope. Of course I would also like to thank my family(!), friends and supporters for everything.

Beachsportfestival Fehmarn

This summer in Germany is one of the best summers we had since a long time. Quite a few windy days and extremely good weather. This was also the case last weekend were I was on the Beachsportfestival on Fehmarn. The whole event was about a big SUP testival, the german slackline championships and a stop of the Superflavour German SUP Challenge. I was there with our inflatable Naish boards and had a good time talking to happy testers, customers and interested people.

As the SUP Challange took place I got some time off from work to participate. Surprisingly I managed to crush my opponents and made a clear win on the course race in the mens fitness class. I was super stoked to win this event and even got a wildcard for the SUP Worldcup in Hamburg. Let’s see what I can do there with some really good paddlers.

The next upcoming event will be Standup4Kids next weekend. Would be cool to see you there supporting this charity event. So if you got some time come around for some action or a chat!

Wakeboarding and RBRH

As every year it gets a little bit more quiet on my page, as exams are coming closer and I have to do a lot of things for the university. Luckily this will be my last semester as I am finishing my Bachelor thesis as we speak! So gonna be free for some time soon!

Anyways last week I had great conditions on the water with good friends. I had two incredible days on my favorite island Fehmarn. Finally I felt comfortable enough to go for unhooked kiteloops again. My knee is holding perfectly – hamdullah!

This weekend was also pretty stuffed, starting with a great RedBull party on Saturday – thanks for the invitation again! On Sunday – quite puzzled hehe – I had the chance to hit the cable again. Grinding some sliders, rocking the kickers and practicing my latest tricks (Blind Judge and Backmobe). I appended some pictures at the end of the article.

The next and last stop of the weekend was the RedBull Rising High. Sick action of international pro Wakeboarders, who were getting BIG on this incredible kicker. It was really a unique event with 15000 spectators in the middle of Hamburg. Big kudos to RedBull for making this happen! Enough of the past – check the forecast guys it’s looking great! Time for some action and also gonna produce some videos and pictures soon so stay tuned and rip hard!

Videoreview: KST Damp 2013

As promised in my post about the first trophy stop in Damp I worked on the video review the last days. As we didn’t had the best wind there is not too much action in the video – let us hope for more during the next event. Anyways for everybody, who was not there it is a nice wrap-up of the event. Now sit back and enjoy.

And here it is – my video review of the surffestival 2013 in Pelzerhaken. Sit back and enjoy the 3 minutes of impressions of the festival. For more detailed information about the event check my previous written review. Big thanks to Alex ‘DJ Äläx’ van de Kuck for the music. Stay tuned for my next video about the KST in Damp coming soon!

Surffestival 2013 Review

Last weekend we had the annual surffestival in Pelzerhaken. The event is mainly a big testival and something like a outdoor exhibition. Anyways a lot of people also come around to chill out on the and attend the sick parties at night. After I’ve been there last year at the Naish tent, I was working for my Sponsor Chiemsee this year. We had one of of main attractions at the beach: The Chiemsee SkyJump. A really big landing pad, like a big air pillow, and a crane to jump from. The maximum height was around 12 meters. Pretty amazing feeling and a chance to try out some sick moves without killing yourself.

The festival was on from Thursday till Sunday and from day to day more people came and also the parties got wilder! As always it peaked out at the Saturday night party. The weather was quite ok. Mixed conditions with nice sun but sometimes a few rainclouds. The wind was also not too bad at least two days where possible to surf.

Furthermore the ION SUP challenge and the German SUP Trophy was held. I was attending the open SUP challenge and was able to reach the second place. I was quite happy with that, as this was the first day on a SUP for me this season and I had my damaged knee. Below are some pictures from Christian Biernath-Wüpping – thanks a lot for sharing. I also got a small video about the festival in the pipeline. It was shot with my new Rollei actioncam and will be ready in a few days.

Surffestival 2013

Just one more day till the biggest surf and SUP festival starts in Pelzerhaken! This year a lot of stuff changed: Delta radio will be responsible for the music and the aftershow partys, there will be a lot of professional and fun SUP contests during the event and my sponsor Chiemsee created the event shirts this year – a rad design!

You will find me at the Chiemsee tent, where you can register for the beach jump powered by Chiemsee. This will be a 12m high tower from where you can jump on a big air pillow. It doesn’t matter how you hit the pillow it will not hurt. Therefore it is the perfect place for practicing all the stuff you never had the nuts for. The best jumpers get invited to the sundowner jump contests every day!

So make sure to be there! Pelzerhaken is just a one hour drive away from Hamburg and it will be the perfect location for action, fun, meeting the pros and partying this weekend. See you there!

Fall storms and climbing

It has been quite a time since my last post as I was really busy getting all my university exams done which was a big time sink. And right after the last exam was over we had some big fall storms kicking in. One of the best time of the year where it was possible to kite at least 4 days a week and in between some sick Bigdays. These days on the water helped me a lot to do some nice progression landing more and more tricks in variations, like to blind and wrapped and I finally managed to land some more Blind Judges, Sbend passes and other stuff thats really on top of my level.

For the next 10 days I will be off to El Chorro in Spain for a freecliming trip – assisting in a outdoor course to each some guys how to teach rock climbing and of course climbing for my own on this nice rock! So you probably wont read anything for the next two weeks here, but stay tuned as I will do a big post with pics and maybe a small vid about the whole trip when I am back. Stay safe and rip hard!

Surffestival 2012

What the heck is going on with the weather? I think the summer finally arrived and fuels us up with nice vibes! The motto of the 2012 Jever surffestival could have been: Wind, Sun and Party. Because this is what we had. The event started with some quite good western wind and gave us the opportunity to have a sportive start in the weekend. The next days where only light winds but a lot of sun – everybody went out doing some SUP sessions or was just hanging out at the beach.

I competed in the ION SUP Challenge and made the 4th place at the singles and the 3rd at the relay race. Quite good after those party nights and without any training this year so far. About the parties is not a lot to say – they were amazing! Surfers just know how to have a good time. I was working two days in our “ButtelBoat” as a bar keeper and afterwards right into the party tent and the last day was really special as we had our Chiemsee/Naish party with our own DJ (Alexander “DJ Äläkz” Kuck). He made an awesome job and the crowd was dancing at our station.

To put it all in a nutshell, it was a exhausting but perfect weekend and I would like to thank everybody for making this event this unique. I am now looking forward to the Kite and SUP Festival in September and of course to next year.
